En la última década una interminable crisis que la ha llevado a desaparecer y reaparecer varias veces. En la actualidad (mayo 2026), la emisora se puede escuchar especialmente por Internet (al final del artículo dejo el link a su página).
Antes de llamarse Radio Necochea fue Splendid. Se inauguró el 21 de diciembre de 1951, marcando el inicio de la radio estable en la ciudad, integrando la red Splendid.
El 17 de abril de 1958, tras la licitación nacional, pasó a ser LU13 Radio Necochea, consolidándose como un medio clave local.
En los primeros días de noviembre de 2021, Alejandro Rillo, que se sumó a la radio con su programa Una mañana cualquiera, explicaba en su página de Facebook sobre los trabajos que se habían realizado en la radio para solucionar algunos problemas técnicos y anunciaba que el sitio web de la radio volvía a estar operativo.
En 2026 la radio cumple 68 años y la cantidad de visitas que recibe mensualmente este artículo demuestra el interés que aún genera entre los oyentes de todo el país.

ردحذفMi papá Florián Lisandro Navarro trabajó muchos años en Radio Necochea, en informativo, con su propio progama De Necochea al pais y en años posteriores en programas del agro. Recuerdo a algunos de sus colegas, Pico Paño, Paco Velázques, Nelly Prieto, Néstor Suárez, entre otros. Me gustaba visitar los estudios en la Galería Central, me acuerdo de una discoteca enorme con una colección increíble de LPs y cintas, la sala de control, los estudios y la sala con la teletipo. Cuando fui adolescente estudié en el conservatorio Juan José Castro de Mar del Plata y la dirección de la radio me brindó su ayuda financiando parte de los pasajes semanales desde Necochea.
